蕾蕾- Laopa's Precious

我要称谢你,因我受造奇妙可畏;你的作为奇妙,这是我心深知道的。 Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain. 甚愿你赐福与我,扩张我的境界,常与我同在,保佑我不遭患难,不受艰苦。

Top 10 box office hit events of the month! Part II

Welcome back! Presenting to you the other box office hits of the month.

Number 8 : Hahaha finally i get to start my SOL 3. Actually i thank God for this favour. I know i could have graduated long time ago but due to my procrastination, Laopa paiseh. I am glad i got convicted and just want to complete my SOL 3. I am so thankful and enjoyed every lesson so far. For some out there who do not know what am i talking about. In FCBC, when we receive Jesus in our life, we will be going to a series of lessons, known as post encounter sessions and school of leaders 1, 2 ,3 and after 3 we will graduate. Heheh indeed i thank God for all these because i have truly benefited from learinng God's truth when i attend this lesson.

I am looking forward to every lesson in SOL 3 because it touch on leadership, counselling and even preaching!! Hahaha thank God for all that.

Number 7: I thank God for convicting me that I need to standardise my cell meeting timings. Due to all our busy schedule, cell group is so difficult to fix. But i was convicted that i need to fix a standard timing in order to honour Laopa. But just when we are so serious over fixing cell timings, the evil one tried to stop my gers from attending cell. But i still want to trust in God that i just need to be faithful in holding cell, God will bring them back. And victory belongs to God. So I trust with all my heart that God will bless our cell!

Number 6: I had my first Lord supper in my cell group. I thank God for the unity and I sense a greater unity in my cell when we partake the Lord supper as a cell group. I am thankful that due to differences and countless conflicts Lord reconciled them. And I pray that His presence and glory will not depart from our cell! I pray His hand is upon this cell!

Number 5: Hahaha... after for so long, me and my fellow co worker in Christ, Sharon are making a comeback to TPIS. As usual when Sharon decided to organise a teambuilding activity which is to take place on June 24, just one day before miracle catch, I was being roped in to help. Hahaha i truly treasured those days of brainstorming for games and activities hahaa they are all back! Thankful that God provided this opportunity to be fishers of men. I pray that God will grant us favour in the whole event. Tomorrow , we are having a briefing for the helpers. Please pray for Lord's favour to bond with them.

Number 4: Hahahah... for the past camps, i was often involved in the programme coordinator role, mentoring, advisory roles but i have not tried logistics before. I thank God for the opportunity to be part of the logistics. Come to think about it , I have done a lot of logistics and administrative support because they are my job scope. I am thankful because of the 风风雨雨 I have been through during my previous job. I thank God I enjoyed serving and I had a lot of joy serving in this camp.

I came with the greatest desire for my gers to come for this camp. And even before this camp, we experienced so many spiritual attacks that were trying to stop them from attending. As a spiritual mother, God was teaching me to rise up to stand in the gap for them. I remembered i prayed so hard for them, I really lay hold of Laopa not because i am faithful but because God is faithful, He brought my girls to the camp and went through the structured experiences. I still remember throughout the camp i was really thinking about my gers, even when i was talking to people, my mind was filled with prayers for them. Indeed GOd is so faithful, all of them finished the whole race God marked out for them.Nothing beats seeing my gers trusting in Laopa and finished the tough race. i was so touched by God's grace for all of them.
Though i did not go through any of the structured experience in the camp, but God has a totally different structured experience for me, that is to catch the spirit of mothering. My structured experience is to lay hold of God and perservere in prayer for my gers because i know God has a unique destiny for all of them. It is to lay hold of God to ask Him to bless them, enlarge their territories, His hand upon them and his protection upon them. It is also to rise up in faith to lay hold of God's faithfulness for my gers. Because God cant wait to bless them but He want to teach me to rise up in faith to partner with the Holy Spirit to mother my gers. What a great priviledge!

Thank you Laopa!

The BTSS camp is quite challenging for me because it has been quite a few years since i am a mentor and the most challenging part is that i am taking care of a bunch of secondary school restless kids. Hahaha it was quite fun. There were some challenging moments such as disciplining the kids in my group because they are all very playful. Thank God for sustaining me.

Reflection

Characteristics of a heart of a youth worker who is serving the youths

As I ponder over the characteristics of the heart of a youth worker, I came up with a few main characteristics which I considered them to be very important to have in order to serve as a youth worker.
The 6 keys include:

1.Heart of God
2.Humility
3. Partnering with Holy Spirit by recognizing God is able
4. Never say Die
5. Understanding the youth dynamics you are serving
6. Giftings, abilities and talents

1.Heart of God- As a youth worker; we need to possess the heartbeat of God. I believe this means to have a heart of compassion and a heart to disciple the youths we are serving. I believe we need to look in the eyes of the father, despite the discouragement we may face while serving, we need to continue to love and see as Jesus sees them.

2. Humility- To possess the attitude of servant hood. I believe we are here to serve the youths and not to be served. Just like what the bible says. Often, it is really a humbling job to disciple youths who are broken. I remembered during the camp, one of the humbling experiences which God allowed was handling this youths despite their rebellious attitude towards me.
I believe God need to break us before we can rely on Him to serve the ground He has given us.

3. Partnering with Holy Spirit- I believe this is part and parcel of serving. Often, I feel so inadequate to counsel youths but that is when I cry out to Holy Spirit to help me. I realized through partnering with the Holy Spirit, the person’s spirit is uplifted. During camp, I was reaching out to a youth who required healing from God and needed to be comforted about God’s love. Initially I could sense that she was unwilling to open up to me since she did not really know me. I began to cry out to Holy Spirit to reign, there was a change of her attitude towards me and I began to minister to her.

4. Never say die attitude- The tenacity and perseverance to finish the race. I believe sometimes there are times we feel discouraged and disappointed over the youths we are serving. Since it is always helping the youths to develop and transform their characters, it can be a long and tedious process. Despite the disappointments we faced, we still need to press on to do His will. I believe being a youth worker requires a never say die attitude to look beyond the present circumstances we may be facing and continue to persevere despite not seeing results.

5. Understanding the youth dynamics- To be effective. I believe the youths that the Lord has entrusted to us are very unique in character and personality. Therefore, we need to be effective in serving them by understanding the dynamics of the youths. For example during camp, the dynamics of the Bedok Town students, are with short attention span. Therefore it is important to think of ways to engage them so that they will not lose interest during debriefing session and picked up simple learning points which they can apply.

6. Abilities, giftings and talents- I believe apart from possessing the spiritual aspects, abilities, giftings and talents will help us to serve effectively in the ministry we are serving. However, abilities are nurtured from the amount of experience acquired while ploughing the ground. With more experience, comes more abilities to handle the youths we are serving. This is because we are reaching out to unique individuals whom God wired differently.

I personally feel that there is one more key that is the most important thing to help us to serve youths effectively. That is Faith. As the bible says, without faith, it is impossible to please God. I believe Faith is this key that binds everything together. We need faith to believe God for the transformation of lifes. As for me., God is always teaching me to be consistently equipped with all these characteristics.
